Fellow Penners:
We had a really good show with 374 teams, not a record (389) but close. The heat was not too bad for August and no one was seriously hurt. The show ran smoothly and everyone seemed to have a good time. We have made some changes internally whch seems to have made the show run smoother and quicker.
The Directors met again Friday night and set the perimeters for the Finals. The prizes will be awarded on the same format as last year with one main exception. No one will be eligible for more than one saddle. The saddles will be awarded as follows:
Top Hand Saddles - Open (3 &4) Amateur (2) Novice (1)
Year End Saddles
The winners of the Top Hand saddles will NOT be eligible for a class saddle. No one will be eligible for more than one class saddle. If you are first in two classes, you will be awarded the saddle rated highest by the following order:
1) Open Penning 2) Open Ranch Sort 3) Open Arena Sort 4) #7 Penning 5) #5 Penning 6) #5 Ranch Sort 7) #3 Penning 8) #2 Ranch Sort
The Board believes this will be a positive change; making more riders eligible for saddles. The saddles this year will be provided by Jay's Custom Saddles from San Angelo, Texas. These are really nice, high quality saddles that anyone should be proud to own.
Year end prizes will be awarded to the top five in each class.
Embroidered shirts will be awarded to the top ten in each class.
FINALS:
Shoot Out Teams will be riding for $900 ($300 per rider) with NO ENTRY FEES. One go - winner takes all.
High Point Buckles will be awarded in each class at the Finals. Also our goal is to give $1000 added money in each adult class at the Finals. If we have two good shows for September and October, we will make this goal. All profits for Aug., Sept., and Oct. are dedicated to the Finals; so keep riding and make the Finals even better.
There are still openings for the Friday night Clinic with Grady, so get your money in. Don't miss this opportunity! |
